Land Cruiser 2013

The impressive 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser is the culmination of 60 years of intrepid exploration across seven continents. Sold and celebrated in 188 countries, it is a rare blend of luxury and capability.

60 years of heritage

One summer day back in 1951, the first Land Cruiser, then called the BJ, started up the side of Mt. Fuji and accomplished a feat no other vehicle in history had managed to achieve. It climbed to Checkpoint No. 6, a spot so high up the mountainside it was thought to be unreachable by motor vehicle. The event signaled more than just the triumph of one vehicle over a formidable challenge. It marked the birth of a legend.

In the 60 years since its impressive debut, Land Cruiser has developed a loyal following unmatched by any other SUV in the world. From the rugged machine of those early days, to the model of refinement it is today, Land Cruiser continues to be a symbol of capability, innovation and quality.

Capable by nature

Many SUVs perform well either on the highway or on the dirt, but fail to do well on both. Armed with features like Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) and 4WD with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC), Land Cruiser delivers optimum performance on or off the pavement.

5.7L V8 Dual Independent VVT-i
5.7L V8 Dual Independent VVT-i

With Land Cruiser’s power and torque at your disposal, even the most inhospitable terrain will not intimidate you. The 5.7-liter Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) 32-valve V8 employs Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS). These advanced technologies help the engine produce 381 hp and 401 lb.-ft. of torque.

Robust Towing

Sooner or later in your travels you may need to pull something. And when that time arrives, you’ll be ready with the capable Land Cruiser. Its powerful V8, 6-speed automatic transmission and torque-enhancing gear ratios endow it with an incredible 8200-lb. towing capacity.

Trailer-Sway Control (TSC)

Stability is crucial to towing and Land Cruiser has you covered. It features a technology called Trailer-Sway Control (TSC), which helps counteract vehicle yaw caused by trailer oscillation, helping keep you in command at all times.

 Multi-Terrain Monitor

This remarkable feature gives you a look at the front, side and rear areas of the vehicle from the comfort of the driver’s seat while off-roading. Shown on the 8-in. navigation screen, the images help you double-check your blind spots and examine your immediate surroundings for potential trouble.

Multi-Terrain Select

Multi-terrain Select ensures that the driver has the maximum amount of traction possible for any off-road scenario. The driver chooses from five available modes — Mud & Sand, Rock, Rock & Dirt, Loose Rock and Mogul — to best match the terrain being negotiated. The system optimizes throttle and brake control, helping to limit wheel spin and wheel lockup.

Multi-Terrain 4-Wheel ABS with EBD

ABS sensors detect wheel lockup during emergency braking situations, and the system helps compensate by “pulsing” individual wheel brakes. Land Cruiser’s ABS also features Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), which redistributes brake force to help keep the rear wheels from locking up during sudden braking situations. By adapting to off-road conditions such as sand, gravel or mud, this standard Multi-terrain 4-wheel ABS is ideally suited for adventure.

Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS)

When driving at speed in a straight line, you don’t want the vehicle to change direction with every slight movement of the steering wheel. In town, however, when negotiating tight turns and when parking, you want the steering to be responsive. VGRS is designed to keep Land Cruiser’s steering relaxed at speed, and progressively more responsive as your speed drops.

Torsen®[2] Limited-Slip Differential

The Torsen,® or torque-sensing, differential is engineered to automatically send more torque to the wheel or axle with more traction, helping provide greater grip and better turning on uncertain surfaces.

4WD with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC)

The only thing better than the confidence of 4WD is 4WD with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) and a Torsen®[1] locking center differential. By interpreting data from the ABS wheel-speed sensors, A-TRAC can tell if a drive wheel is turning faster than a non-drive wheel, which indicates loss of traction. The system can then automatically reduce engine power until the wheel that is slipping slows and regains traction. If reducing engine power isn’t enough, the braking system will gradually slow that wheel through pulsed brake action.

5-Speed Crawl Control (CRAWL)

Go where few other vehicles can. Crawl Control (CRAWL) helps control the throttle and brake in tough terrain allowing the driver to focus on steering, and with Off-road Turn Assist (OTA), negotiation of tight corners and off-road drivability are enhanced.

Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS)

Many traditional suspension systems perform well on the highway, but fall short when it comes to off-road performance. KDSS automatically optimizes suspension performance both on and off the pavement. On the road, it helps suppress body roll to enhance cornering performance. Off-road, it relaxes sway control on rough terrain for increased wheel articulation. This helps tires maintain contact with the ground on uneven terrain and minimizes body tilt.

Suspension

Land Cruiser is equipped with an independent double-wishbone suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar up front, and a 4-link rear with coil springs stabilizer bar and semi-floating axle in the rear. Trust worthy? You bet. Land Cruiser’s reputation is riding on it.

Skid Plates

Land Cruiser’s underside is equipped with reinforced skid plates to help protect the front suspension, radiator, fuel tank and transfer case.

Rigid Frame

Land Cruiser boasts the strength of body-on-frame construction. Using high-tensile steel, our engineers optimized the shape and thickness of the frame components to help increase joint strength and keep vehicle curb weight down. In addition, key suspension components have been optimized to enhance overall ride quality.

Stainless Steel Exhaust

In addition to being corrosion resistant, Land Cruiser’s exhaust system has been designed for performance. To help reduce back pressure, two independent exhaust tubes have been used to transport exhaust from either side of the V8 engine to the main muffler. Plus, the edges on the outer muffler casing have been removed to enhance uneven-terrain driving performance.

6-Speed Automatic

Land Cruiser’s automatic transmission not only offers the smooth shifting of six speeds, but also incorporates advanced features such as Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) sequential shift mode and uphill/ downhill shift logic.

Multi-Terrain 4-Wheel ABS

ABS sensors detect wheel lockup during emergency braking situations, and the system helps compensate by “pulsing” individual wheel brakes. Land Cruiser’s ABS also features Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), which redistributes brake force to help keep the rear wheels from locking up during sudden braking situations. By adapting to off-road conditions such as sand, gravel or mud, this standard Multi-terrain 4-wheel ABS is ideally suited for adventure.

Front- and Second-Row Seat Comfort

Both front seats offer the comfort of power adjustability, multi-stage heating and ventilation. The second-row seats offer heating for the passengers in back.

Perforated Leather

When adventuring in Land Cruiser, roughing it is relative. Its luxurious seats offer plush perforated leather trim.Leather-Trimmed Heated Steering Wheel No need to leave civility behind when you venture above the timberline. Land Cruiser’s steering wheel is not only leather-trimmed, but also heated.

It’s true that Land Cruiser offers everything that’s needed for an expedition to the farthest corners of the globe. Five doors, seating for eight and a 40/20/40 split-fold second row that lets you transform seats into extra cargo space. But this versatile interior is also the picture of refinement. With features like a leather-trimmed heated steering wheel, wood-grain-style trim and ventilated front seats, Land Cruiser is that rare vehicle that lets you go forth in comfort.

Color Multi-Information Display

As the name suggests, the Multi-Information Display serves up valuable info on a variety of vehicle functions and systems, and does so in color. The driver is provided with data relating to fuel economy, trip and vehicle information.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)[1]

This standard feature automatically adjusts vehicle speed to help you maintain a preset following distance between your vehicle and the vehicle traveling directly in front of you.

Smart Key System [2]

Better to search for adventure than for your keys. When you approach Land Cruiser with the Smart Key fob in your pocket or bag, the interior illuminates automatically, the doors unlock when you touch any door handle, the back hatch opens with the touch of its handle and the engine starts with the push of a button.

Toyata Avalon 2013 The new breed

The new breed

Started with inspiration

There was only one rule followed when creating the 2013 Avalon. To make some ting, it better be good. To create some thing entirely new. It to be radical. It's designed and assembled exclusively in the United States. The purest expression of everything about driving. From this point forward, driving a Toyota will never be the same.

The science of luxury

A place where art and technology converge

Joy. Excitement. Desire. One touch can communicate so many things. This was the idea behind the technology that surrounds you in the 2013 Avalon. We created sleek IntelliTouch™ controls that are simple to adjust, available Entune®1 that gives you access to more information than ever before, and an available backup camera2 that helps guide you into, or out of, the tight spots. Not only can Avalon give you clear vision of what’s behind you, it can also give you a glimpse of the future.

A tailored environment

A new era in the art of making cars

Imagine an environment that feels as if it were created just for you. A space with controls that invite interaction, seats that cradle and lights that welcome.Technology would simplify, not complicate, and also adapt to your needs. You would be surrounded by beautifully stitched leather that feels handcrafted and luxurious to the touch. We put all of this in the Avalon’s spacious interior and designed it to fit together seamlessly.

 Passion that performs

A bold way of looking at performance

Our goal was to redefine the art of driving. No detail was overlooked. We started with less to finish with more. We designed a lighter body with a drag coefficient of .28. Each panel was sculpted to help quiet the wind. The chassis was made more rigid for better handling and a crisper response. Then we shaved 119 pounds off the final weight. This is a new era in performance, and we broke every rule to bring you the purest expression of driving.

Performance that inspires

The art of driving has returned

It all started with a desire for a more connected driving experience. We designed available paddle shifters that allow a driver to change gears with the touch of a finger. We built an engine as powerful as it is efficient with a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 268 horsepower and offers an EPA-estimated 31 mpg4 highway. Avalon is an absolute breakthrough in high-end driving and a bold new direction for the road ahead.

A radically new drive

Introducing the Avalon Hybrid
An uncompromising level of performance was our goal for the new Avalon Hybrid. A driving experience that was more than refined — it was revolutionary. We used our proven Hybrid Synergy Drive system that delivers a spirited ride while at the same time offering up to an EPA-estimated 40 mpg4 and an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) emission rating. The world is accelerating, and we’re leading the charge.

Safety
Inspired by the unexpected
It would be great to drive in a world with no surprises, a world where everyone paid attention while they were driving. That world does not exist. The moments when things don’t go as planned inspired the six advanced features in the Star Safety System. An available Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) can signal the unseen, and a backup camera-2 helps you with the unknown. Add a class-leading ten standard airbags 9-10 and you have a system working together with one purpose in mind: a more confident drive.

Art of the interior

Toyota created a space that would adapt to your needs. We put the driver at the center of everything: Welcoming seats, intuitive technology and spacious design — all with a premium feel. This is a new era in the art of making cars.

Toyota RAV4 2013

The Toyota RAV4 has ditched its trademark rear-mounted spare wheel, abandoned its side-hinged tailgate, and introduced a new turbo diesel engine for its new-generation model.

Toyota has finally confirmed CarAdvice’s world exclusive last May that the 2013 Toyota RAV4 would axe the V6 petrol in favor of a new 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel, revealing the new-look mid-sized SUV at the 2012 LA motor show.

There will be two petrol engines available, too, expanding the choice for buyers when the Toyota RAV4 goes on sale in Australia in the first quarter of 2013.

A 133kW 2.5-litre four-cylinder is near-identical to the one found in the Camry Altise while the 102kW 2.0-litre is based on the unit from the Corolla Ultima sedan.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard with a six-speed automatic featuring a tipshift function available as an option with the diesel and 2.5 petrol.

The latest iteration of the RAV4, which has been around since 1994, follows other current Toyotas such as the Camry and Corolla by adopting a bolder exterior design.

It includes the wraparound grille and headlight design that forms a central part of Toyota’s family face for its line-up.

The big news externally, though, is Toyota’s move to switch the spare wheel from the tailgate to a more conventional position beneath the boot floor. It follows Honda’s move in recent years with the CR-V.

A roof-hinged tailgate will also overcome the outgoing model’s side-hinged version that could be problematic on windy days or when the RAV4 was parked on a slope.

Toyota says the RAV4 will have improved handling, with benefits from increased body rigidity. Front and rear vision is also claimed to be better.

The Toyota RAV4 has been unveiled as an all-wheel-drive version but it’s to be presumed a front-drive variant will again be offered to maintain the model’s competitiveness against similar rivals.

Seven airbags are fitted as standard, with higher grades also including auto tailgate operation, blind spot assist, rain-sensing wipers and auto-dimming rear view mirror.

The Toyota RAV4 was arguably the world’s first road-biased off-roader – or ‘soft roader’ – and continues to be one of Australia’s most popular SUVs

Nearly 200,000 RAV4s have been sold locally since the vehicle debuted 18 years ago.
